These are the rules for selling your device to TekBye. We wrote them to be read, not skimmed past — no traps, no fine-print surprises. If anything here is unclear, ask us before you ship.
Last updated: July 19, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and TekBye Co ("TekBye", "we", "us"), a family-run device buyback company established in 2018 and located at 1000 West Columbia Way, Vancouver, WA 98660. When you check out on our site, you’re offering to sell us your device under the terms on this page.
By submitting an order, you accept these terms. If you don’t agree with something here, don’t ship — cancellation is free any time before shipment (see section 11).
To sell to TekBye, you must be:
The quote you see at checkout is your offer to sell your device to TekBye at that price, based on the condition you described. Once you complete checkout, that price is locked for 14 days. As long as the carrier’s acceptance scan happens within those 14 days, your locked price holds — even if our advertised prices drop in the meantime.
If your device ships after the 14-day window, we’ll evaluate it at the values in effect on the day we evaluate it, not your original quote. Advertised prices on our site can change at any time, but a price change never touches an order that’s already locked.
If a quote contains an obvious pricing error — a slipped digit, a glitch — we may rescind it before you ship. We’ll tell you clearly, explain what happened, and you can requote or walk away with no obligation.
At checkout we email you a free prepaid, insured shipping label — or a QR code if you don’t have a printer. Orders over $150 can get a free padded mailer on request. Pack the device reasonably well: snug, cushioned, nothing rattling.
When you use our label, we bear the risk of loss or damage in transit. If a properly packed shipment is lost or damaged on our label, we pay your locked offer — subject to the serial/IMEI recorded at checkout matching your order, and our standard fraud checks. If you choose to ship on your own label instead, the device is your responsibility until it reaches us.
Before shipping, remove your SIM card and any memory cards. Please don’t include accessories — chargers, cases, and boxes aren’t part of the offer, we can’t pay for them, and we can’t send them back if you later decline a revised offer.
We inspect your device within 2 business days of carrier-confirmed delivery — 5 business days at the absolute maximum. There’s no paid "expedite" tier because fast is the default for everyone.
If your device matches your description, it passes and we pay you (see section 6). If its condition differs from what you described, we send a revised offer with photos and a plain explanation of what we found. You then have 7 calendar days to accept or decline:
We pay you the same day your device passes inspection. You choose the method at checkout, and every one of them carries $0 in fees:
Ownership of the device transfers to TekBye when we issue your payment.
By selling to us, you warrant that the device is yours to sell and was not obtained by fraud, theft, or deception. We buy paid-off, financed, blacklisted, activation-locked, and broken devices — but we never, under any circumstances, buy devices reported lost or stolen.
Every IMEI and serial number is history-verified on arrival using Phonecheck against national loss and theft databases. A device that comes back flagged as lost or stolen is reported and surrendered to law enforcement. It is not paid for and not returned. If you resell devices to us in volume, you’re responsible for reasonable due diligence on your own sourcing.
If you ship us something ineligible by honest mistake, we return it to you free of charge, once. Deliberately misrepresenting a device — a different model, a hidden defect you knew about, a swapped part passed off as original — forfeits that courtesy, and we may charge a flat $15 return fee, disclosed to you before anything ships back. (This never applies to ordinary revised offers, which always include a free return.)
Full details on what we can and can’t accept are on our Device Eligibility & Compliance page.
We buy devices that still have a balance owed to a carrier or finance company. Selling the device to us does not move that debt — you remain solely responsible for paying off the remaining balance.
If a device you sold us later becomes blacklisted because you stopped paying that balance, that is a breach of these terms, and we may pursue recovery of what we paid you.
You warrant the accuracy of your device description for 90 days after the sale. If, within those 90 days, we discover a material discrepancy that inspection couldn’t reasonably catch — a hidden defect, a misrepresented condition, an ownership issue — we may ask you to refund the difference between what we paid and what the device was actually worth, or refund the full amount in exchange for the device back.
Before you ship, you’re responsible for your data: back up anything you want to keep, sign out of Find My or your Google account, factory reset the device, and remove your SIM and memory cards. Your confirmation email includes the full checklist.
As a backstop, we wipe every device that arrives — no exceptions — using certified data-erasure software. If any personal data survives your reset, it is destroyed. We never access, copy, or share it. That said, the wipe is a safety net, not a substitute: TekBye is not liable for data you failed to remove before shipping.
How we handle your personal information as a customer is covered in our Privacy Policy.
You can cancel your order free of charge at any time before you ship. No fee, no questions, no hoops. Once the carrier has your package, the order is in motion and the process in sections 5 and 6 applies.
You don’t need an account to sell to us — guest checkout works for everything, from your quote to your payout. We don’t currently offer accounts; if we add them later, the same rules will apply: accurate information, one per person, and we may close any account used for fraud or repeated misrepresentation.
Our service is provided as-is. We work hard to keep quotes, timelines, and the site accurate, but we can’t promise perfection in every listing or page.
To the fullest extent the law allows, TekBye’s total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or a sale is capped at the amount payable to you for the devices in that order. Neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential damages. Any claim must be brought within 1 year of the event that gave rise to it.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington. Any dispute that can’t be resolved between us directly will be heard in the courts of Clark County, Washington. Before it comes to that, talk to us — most issues are fixed with one email.
We update these terms when the business changes. Material changes are always announced with a clear effective date — never quietly slipped in. The version in force when you complete checkout is the version that applies to your order.
